Live Art Series: The Nightmare Before Christmas Live Radio Play

  • Water Street Studios 160 South Water Street Batavia, IL, 60510 United States (map)

Water Street Studios will host a special Hallowe’en presentation of The Nightmare Before Christmas, presented as an old time radio production – actors performing the script with live microphones and sound effects – staged by Top Banana Productions. The Nightmare Before Christmas is an adaptation of the 1993 animated musical about Jack Skellington, the skeletal king of Hallowe’en, who encounters the Joy and Love of Christmas and decides to muscle in on it.

The show will open with a short, terrifying episode of Lights Out called The Dark. During the 1960s and 70s, The Dark was played on WGN radio every year on Hallowe’en – once at midnight and once while schoolchildren were eating their breakfasts and had all day long for their nightmares to develop. Nobody remembers the title. But they all remember about the oily black fog that turns people inside out.

In the cast are Ben Dooley as Jack, Sara Malloy as Sally, with Patrick Gallagher, Steve Schroeder, Jim Martin, Ali Martin, Margie Gustafson, Sean Thomas, Pam Turlow and Patti Shore Kaden. Directed by Craig Gustafson.

Seating is limited to 70.
