Explore using colored pencils as a painting medium on 12” x 12” cradled beachwood panels used like a canvas. We will work with subject matter and layout, how to develop thumbnail ideas and color palettes before going to the final piece, underpainting with acrylic wash and vivid colored pencil technique.
Student grade colored pencils will be provided. Students may wish to bring higher quality pencils, such as Prismacolor, 24-colors.

Nancy has always worked in the art and illustration/design field, focusing on patterns and artwork for many products such as quilt fabric collections, books, calendars, paper goods, greeting cards and gift wrap, housewares, gifts and more. Her product designs can be found in shops and big box stores throughout the country and overseas. A creative and fresh approach combined with an innocent sophistication is loved by many and has kept Nancy busy throughout her career. She attended Illinois Wesleyan University, where she was awarded a full scholarship, winning first place in a national portfolio challenge with Scholastic Art Contests. She did further advanced illustration studies at Northern Illinois University and then College of DuPage for all of her digital illustration and design training.
